Burger King Germany experiences leadership departure as Anna Mennel steps down after a tenure of approximately 19 months.
Burger King Germany Faces Management Changes
Burger King Germany has been experiencing a series of changes in its management team. The latest development saw the departure of Anna Mennel, who had returned to the company in January 2024 and was responsible for key areas such as external communication, digital and classic marketing, product development, and in-store communication.
Mennel's departure, announced in 2024, adds to a string of personnel changes within the company. Previously, Klaus Schmaing, the then CMO, and Cornelius Everke, a former member of the management team, had also left their positions.
Upon her return, Mennel reported directly to Schmaing and later to Yvonne von Eyb, who took over as interim CMO in summer 2024. The responsibilities in the areas of communication, marketing, product development, and in-store messaging left by Mennel remain unfilled.
The strategic direction of Burger King Germany may be undergoing changes, possibly due to external expectations, internal reorganizations, or shifting priorities. The future of brand management at the company is uncertain, with industry observers eagerly awaiting developments.
Notably, Mennel was responsible for the "Made in Germany" values campaign at Burger King, launched in October 2024. This campaign remains ongoing.
As for the succession plan for Mennel's role and the division of her tasks, if any, have not been disclosed. Burger King has not provided a response regarding the succession of Mennel's role.
On a positive note, Andreas Bork took over as the CEO of Burger King Germany on February 1, 2025, following Joerg Ehmer, who had taken over the management but left again in November 2024.
Mennel brings extensive experience in the FMCG and marketing sectors, having worked with brands like LEGO, McDonald's, Sat.1, Sixx, and Burger King. Her departure marks a significant shift in the company's management team, and the industry watches with interest to see who will take on her responsibilities and guide Burger King Germany forward.
